Everest 3 High Pass Trekking

The Everest Three Passes Trek is one of the most challenging and adventurous trekking tours in Nepal, fit for well-trained hikers, who want to get off the beaten paths. It combines the crossing of the Kongma-La pass (55356m), the Cho-La pass (5420m) and the Renjo-La pass (5340m) with an ascent to the summit of Kala Pattar (5545m)  and the option to visit the Everest Base Camp and to climb the summit of  Gokyo Ri (5360m).

The real trek starts at Lukla airport and leads us through a lovely landscape, sometimes along the river Dudh Kosi to the entrance of the Sagarmatha National Park in the north of the village Monjo. After a short but steep ascent we reach Namche Bazaar, the busy village, where we will spend our first acclimatization and rest day.

Then we follow a little off the main trails the way into the Thame valley. It is very popular for mountain climbers and in the small settlements, where the Sherpa have maintained their traditional way of live,  you will get a look into the untouched Sherpa culture.

The way up to the Renjo-La is steep, rocky, snow covered and has long glacier parts. But the view from the Renjo-La is the most splendid view, you can have: the close panorama of the Mt. Everest range and down the Gokyo valley with its lakes in a clear turquoise color. Simply unbelievable.

In Gokyo we spend our second rest day. If you want, you have the opportunity to hike up the Gokyo Ri in the early morning in order to see the breathtaking view to the sunrise over the snow- capped mountain giants.

Our next pass, the Cho-La is not difficult, but nevertheless hard to go, because it is steep and we have to cross the Khumbu Glacier.  After an easygoing day we climb up our highest summit on the trek, the Kala Patthar, "black rock" in Nepali and Hindi. It offers the most spectacular view to the Mt. Everest from the Base Camp to the peak, the views to Nuptse, Changtse, Lhotse and Mt. Pumori. The world´s highest webcam is installed here.

Down in Gorak Shep, which is the original Base camp for the Mt. Everest, you can rest for a while or visit with us the Everest Base Camp before we walk to Lobuche. In Lobuche we start to hike the Kongma-La pass. Perhaps you will have the energy to mount one more of the cairns, you find on the pass and fix some prayer flags too, because now the descent begins.

We follow the Imja Khola valley down to Chhukung, Dingboche, Tengboche, Namche Bazaar and walk on the trail, we know already, to Lukla. The last evening in the mountains we celebrate with Sherpa friends and our porters to say Goodbye to all of them, to the solitude and the extraordinary landscape, we could enjoy here.
