Hearty condolences for first women Junko Tabei

The first woman to climb Everest passed away on October 20 at the age of 77. Late Tabei is said to have died while undergoing treatment of cancer.

Born on September 22, 1939 in Fukushima, Japan, Late Junko successfully climbed Mt. Everest in 1975. With this, Nepal has lost a true friend and the world’s mountaineering community a pioneer leader.
In her later years, Ms Tabei had actively contributed to environmental conservation especially in the Himalayas.
The last visit of Tabei to Nepal was on April 30 of 2016 when she led a Japanese Mountaineering team to observe the golden jubilee of Mt. Manaslu and Mt. Lhotse.
Besides Everest, Junko also achieved the feat of climbing all of the world’s seven highest peaks along with dozens of expeditions around the world.
